Biography: Born as Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu in Skopje, Yugoslavia (what is now Macedonia) on 27th August 1910.
At eighteen she left her parental home in Skopje and joined the Sisters of Loreto (Irish community of nuns). In 1928 she joined a religious order and took the name Teresa. She started her service in India on 1928. Worked as a teacher in a convent school in Calcutta from 1931 to 1948.
Mother Teresa started her own school of order, "The Missionaries of Charity" in the year of 1950,. "The Missionaries of Charity" has served in most parts of the world.
In her life, she has received lot of awards from world over for her Humanitarian work,
awarded Padma Shri on 1962
awarded the Pope John XXIII Peace Prize on 1971
awarded Nobel price for peace on 1979
awarded Medal of Freedom on 1985
awarded India's highest award Bharat Ratna on 1980
Died as MOTHER TERESA on Sep 5, 1997 in her Missionaries of Charity home in central Calcutta. A life of love and care.
